Albrecht Durer lived from 1471-1528. He died a respected artist, well regarded in his own time. John Winch has long been a fan of his work and Run, Hare, Run! is his exploration of something people rarely think about - the story behind the art.

A painting or drawing captures a moment. A place, a person, an animal or an emotion is caught forever. Winch has created his own story of how Durer came to draw ‘The Hare' - the chase through fields and streets, the capture, then the hours spent faithfully recording the animal's energy and beauty before releasing it. As always, Winch's illustrations are full of details that amuse and attract the reader. Animals have personalities, expressed through eyes and body language. The settings are realistic in colour and detail but contain sufficient imagination to make them lively and energetic. Perspective and angle vary in ways that maintain tension and create small moments of humour.
