Sensory Sensitivity Study - 6-11 year olds

Gifted News

My name is Prue Wright and I am a Master of Clinical Psychology student at the University of Western Sydney under the supervision of Child Psychologist/ Senior Lecturer, Mr Tim Hannan. As a past primary school teacher and soon to be Clinical Psychologist, I have a passion for finding out about different aspects of children's learning and behavioural/emotional responses.

I am looking for parents/caregivers of ANY identified gifted children, 6 to 11 years, male or female, who would like to participate in a study to determine whether certain populations of children are more prone to tactile, auditory and visual sensitivities and, if so, whether they show specific behavioural and emotional responses. Identified gifted children, according to research, are those whose IQ, assessed through cognitive assessment, is 130 +. Your child is NOT DIRECTLY involved but you will be giving information about him/her. If you can help and are interested, please check this research study flier.

"I learnt so much about gifted children, backed up by very interesting research which gave me a better understanding of the needs of gifted children and how best we can nurture their strengths, skills and habits." An educator attending a NSWAGTC seminar.
