A Return to the Blog
Sunday, 07 November 2010 22:48
For a long time I have planned to prepare further blog entries but baulked because it seemed difficult and I was not sure! However a lesson yesterday at our meeting has reminded me of the process.
There are new things on the way for the NSWAGTC.
Over the last 12 months we have worked towards having a strong online presence. You will have noted our updated website and our increased encouragement for members to communicate with each other. The monthly enewsletter brings our plans to your attention and you are reminded by SMS about coming events.
We feel this will bring everyone in contact with us regardless of location or time. We hope that you will find this more useful.
Watch for more information on the website, responses to the most frequemt questions we are asked, suggestions for activities to do with your children and possibly somewhere for young people and children to contribute. Currently we have an animation competition - a chance to have a presence on our site!
Yesterday we had a committee meeting when we welcomed a new vice president - Gary Jones - to our committee. We also will have our parent support position filled now. Florence Thum has nominated to take that role. We are glad for the input and support of these members, knowing that they bring new ideas and approaches for us. Our current committee is diverse and committed - and members are welcome to visit committee meetings and contribute to discusison. In September we held a planning meeting which included a range of members - from this we have set out our events for 2011. We will now work to make these happen.
Lots to think about and share! I welcome your feedback and comments.
Just in...

NSWAGTC Blogs
The blogs appearing on the NSWAGTC site are designed to provide colour, news and subjective views about the many issues and concerns facing gifted children and their parents, care-givers and educators. Some of the blogs are associated with formal roles of the NSWAGTC, such as the President and the Webmaster. These allow the persons filling these roles to note to members any current news and changes. Other NSWAGTC blogs are written by individuals with experience of gifted children from one or more perspectives - for example Cate's Blog is from the viewpoint of a primary school teacher and parent of gifted children. These blogs are written solely by the person identified and represent his or her views, rather than necessarily those of the NSWAGTC. Comments are invited We invite comments on our blog entries, by both financial members and registered users (free). Click here to register. Comments may be reviewed and those considered inappropriate will be deleted. New blogs? We would also be delighted to consider applications from potential bloggers provided that the applicant accepts that this will be subject to a review process and may well be declined for any number of reasons which may not be shared with the applicant. Applications, which should include a resume and a vision for the potential blog, and suggestions for new blogs, can be sent in the first instance to the webmaster. |
